Theme: Continuity and change

Sports studies: Skills to identify and discuss the social and cultural significance that sport has for individuals and for society 1

Unit aim:

Students will have the opportunity to:

  • ‘race’ through the oceans of time, exploring origins of the Olympic Games and the ancient philosophy behind these games known as Olympism
  • explore elements of the ancient Olympic Games still incorporated in the modern Olympic Games, and describe how these have changed or developed.
